Attendance

Regular attendance at school is paramount for good outcomes.  Ofsted recognise this and Attendance is taken into consideration when basing a judgement on the school's performance.  Fullwood Primary School is committed to ensuring that all children get the education they are entitled to and to this end set an aspirational attendance target of 97%.

Ofsted state:

In order to receive an 'outstanding' or 'good' judgement in this area, you should meet the following criteria:

  • There is a demonstrable improvement in the attendance of pupils who have particular needs
  • Pupils have high attendance. They come to school on time and are punctual to lessons – when this is not the case, your school takes appropriate, swift and effective action

The school may be rated as 'inadequate' if attendance is consistently low for all pupils or groups of pupils, and shows little sign of sustained improvement.

With this in mind we have an attendance strategy and School Policy that enforces our commitment in this area, but educating your children is a partnership between school and home, so if there are any issues that affect your ability to get your child into school, then please speak to us and we can implement support to improve attendance.

It is sometimes difficult to know if you should send your child into school when they are a little unwell, please take a look at the NHS guidance by
